I started working with Aaron Burr around five years ago, while on ACC recovering from a traumatic brain injury. My goals were better coordination, flexibility, injury recovery, and general body awareness. I ended up achieving those, and so much more.
I have a history of PTSD and an eating disorder, and was extremely nervous to work with a man. In fact, I canceled the first two sessions we had scheduled because I was too scared to even meet him. However, Aaron came to the sessions with so much patience, compassion, and empathy that I never felt uncomfortable for even a second.
Sometimes the work we did was difficult. Working through old injuries and patterns of movement awakened trauma that my body had been holding onto. Aaron was always careful to go at my pace, and held space for my emotions in a way that allowed me to feel completely safe at all times. He has a wonderful combination of professionalism and kindness that is hard to find.
I’m not exaggerating when I say the work we did has completely changed my life. I have more awareness, acceptance, and love for my body’s ability to heal. I’m stronger, more flexible, and more at ease in everyday life. The clumsiness that had plagued me since childhood has all but disappeared. My lower back pain and headaches have almost vanished, only resurfacing when I get lazy about doing my regular exercises. Best of all, I’ve been able to start training in power lifting again, something I never thought possible. And because we were able to strengthen some key areas of weakness and improve my form, I’m reaching personal bests I could never have dreamed of, even before my injury. Being able to work with one person who knows my situation, who I trust, and can provide complete support with personal training, muscle activation, and manual therapy has been incredible. I could never go back to a regular personal trainer or physio.
I would recommend Aaron as a myofascial therapist, personal trainer, movement coach, or just a lovely person to chat to.

"I've been having back pain for a few years, and I attribute a lot of it to my job - lots of heavy lifting, manual work, standing - however I knew it was also from poor postural habits I didn't know how to correct. I've tried physios, dry needle therapy, acupuncturists, ortho-bionomy, massage - they were all short term helpful, but nothing was changing the habits that seemed to cause the problem. The pain was getting to an unsustainable point - waking up in pain and going to bed in pain.
I decided to give Aaron's structural integration a try, because why not - I'd tried almost everything else. Aaron could immediately see my postural mis-alignments, and the hyperextension in my knees, that I was aware of, but never knew how to fix. In the first session, Aaron worked on primarily this. At the end, I could feel that I was no longer hyperextending my legs. The following week, I couldn't believe the changes I felt. Standing felt completely different - it felt like my legs were supporting me!
We've been working our way up the body, and I can feel my posture slowly changing a bit more each week. I can feel alignments coming into place, and my body becoming more stacked. And I'm eager to continue, because I feel like this is the first thing I've found to break the cycle of pain I've been in! I'm not a circus artist or a trained dancer. I'm a regular person that works hard, and moves a lot. I have a regular yoga practice, and I do some dance for hobby fun, but I exercise regularly, and I don't have hours to spend at the gym. I've been really impressed with Aaron's knowledge and care - I never feel judged for what my body does [or doesn't do] or looks like."

I have worked with Aaron on multiple occasions and every time our sessions exceeded my expectations! Aaron is very talented and extremely knowledgeable in the area of functional movement. He makes his sessions accessible and fun while giving you great tools to improve strength, mobility and bring overall balance to the body. He is also a wonderful, warm and caring manual therapist. It is rare to find someone with exceptional knowledge and expertise in both realms - movement and manual therapy - which is a great advantage. I cannot recommend Aaron enough!

Aaron has a calm, kind and friendly teaching style with meticulous attention to detail. He has helped teach me skills in tuning into what’s happening with my body in space so I can start to understand what the right position feels like and make micro adjustments through better body awareness.
Aaron introduced me to importance of fascia in movement and the work of Thomas Myers of Anatomy Trains. Since that time I’ve been enjoying practicing myofascial pilates at home and felt the benefits in terms of feeling looser and freer.
Aaron has inspired me to continue working on bodyweight and acrobatic movements as an enjoyable and fulfilling practice in itself. I highly recommend Aaron and train with him whenever I can.

The exercise Aaron showed me for painful plantar fasciitis were so helpful almost immediately. What could have taken months was completely resolved in less than a month and I could get back to walking my dog without hobbling! At 79, I continue to do the exercises regularly because they also help to maintain strength all over my body, especially in my legs. Thank you Aaron!
